McDonald’s is launching “McHappy Day” to raise fund for underprivileged kids, share laughter and smiles throughout the country all through 365 days of the year with Ronald McDonald House Charities Foundation. The campaign involves many activities for the more than 100 underprivileged kids from FORDEC Foundation.

McDonald’s has highly valued social responsibility throughout its 50 years in global business. Contributions include aid for natural catastrophe victims, human resource development and career opportunities. Since 1974, McDonald’s has joined Ronald McDonald House Charities Foundation to better the health and well-being of children all over the world.

McDonald’s and Ronald McDonald House Charities Foundation has worked together to improve the health and well-being of children. In the past 7 years, McDonald’s all over the world would host special event on World Children’s Day, November 20, inviting individuals and organizations to care for children and nurture them both physically and emotionally every year. The event is also a fund-raising event with proceed that goes to charities to better the lives of the little ones in need. As for Thailand, McDonald’s is planning to launch McHappy Day event and “Bowl for Kids” - charity bowling event to raise funds for the kids as well as other programs in the future.


Mr. Hester Chew, Chairman of Executive Committee and Chief Executive of McThai Co.,Ltd. said that, “Our McHappy Day activity is held to entertain and put a smile on 100 underprivileged kids from FORDEC Foundation. The event includes Ronald McDonald show, Boom Cheer activity, lucky draw and so on. Furthermore, McDonald’s will continue this fun-sharing activity with Ronald McDonald House Charities Foundation or RMHC.

“McDonald’s has become part of the foundation’s effort by setting up donation boxes in McDonald’s restaurants all over the country for the fund to be used accordingly. All McDonald’s staff is encouraged to volunteer in Ronald McDonald Care Mobile program to help contribute to the society. They have all been convinced that each Baht in the donation box will make a great difference in children’s lives.” Mr. Hester Chew added.

Ronald McDonald House Charity Foundation or RMHC was established in the United States in 1974 with the goal to better the living condition of critically ill children that need to be hospitalized. To date, the foundation has fully established in 52 countries worldwide including one in Thailand which has been operating since November 28, 2001. RMHC Thailand aids children with both physical and mental illness and supports research on education for children as well as launches other charity works including the two core programs:
· RMHC Kids Rooms: Recently, the foundation has built and renovated 17 recreation rooms and areas in hospitals, health care centers and orphanage houses, with 7 more kids rooms under construction in 2010.



· Ronald McDonald Care Mobile: The program provides visual acuity measurement, basic health screenings and provision of customized eyeglasses. Currently, the mobile unit has altogether checked up on 8,392 children countrywide and provided 3,440 pairs of glasses.

You can make a contribution with Ronald McDonald House Charities Foundation at a donation box at any McDonald’s restaurants nationwide, refreshment counters at Major Cineplex, EGV, Paragon Cineplex and Esplanade Cineplex cinemas.
