McDonald’s is going for family marketing in the Year of the Tiger, welcoming the New Year with the launch of brain-teasing McDonald’s Game Comix to encourage knowledge and creative thinking for kids. There will be activities in 30 leading schools in Bangkok and Greater Bangkok to expand customer base and keep customers connected to the brand.
For over 50 years of McDonald’s worldwide, the core group of customers has been families, and McDonald’s has organized many campaigns and activities for families. In 2010, McDonald’s will continue its family marketing strategy, starting with McDonald’s Games Comix, games programs for kids to have fun designing cartoons and postcards, while boosting their brainpower with mathematical games and riddles. A road show will be taken to 30 leading schools in Greater Bangkok under the concept, “Smart Kids, Fit & Fun” with the objective of promoting skills and knowledge for kids, as well as encouraging exercise for good health. The fun starts on January and runs until the end of February. McDonald’s will also continue the fun with Happy Meal toys especially with Shrek 4 collection and holding birthday parties for children.
McThai Chairman of Executive Committee and Chief Executive, Mr.Hester Chew said, “McDonald’s has always given the greatest importance to family customers. This year, we will continue the family marketing strategy to cater to the needs of our family customers with a variety of campaigns, such as McDonald’s Game Comix, fun games which encourage learning, while supporting kids to use their imaginations and train their creativity. The road show activity, “Smart Kids, Fit & Fun”, for kids at 30 leading schools in Bangkok and Greater Bangkok, emphasizes giving knowledge and skills, and encouraging exercise for health, led by Ronald McDonald. We are confident the family marketing strategy will help expand McDonald’s customer base and boost brand loyalty.
“McDonald’s is using 20 million baht of marketing budget for the family marketing strategy, aiming to cater to customers by studying their needs, and communicating with them by newspaper, leaflets and in-store media. We expect to expand our customer base by another 5 percent.”
McDonald’s Game Comix is the game to have fun designing cartoons and postcards, and boost brain skills with mathematics and word games. The price is 79 baht per CD, or only 59 baht with a Happy Meal, or any McDonald’s meal set, at any McDonald’s’ restaurants nationwide, from now until March 15 (or as long as stocks last).
